Anyone! Our healing with horse’s sessions is designed to enhance your connection to self-using the horses as a tool. This is a ground work program, not a riding program. The programs are tailored to meet the needs of the participants. We have currently developed a 6-week healing with horses’ session which is a wholistic program looking at understanding personal space and asserting healthy boundaries. Developing emotional self-awareness and self-regulation. Learning to set goals and make informed decisions and empowered choices. Developing positive body image, self-confidence, and self-compassion. Developing listening, communication and leadership skills. Developing personal grounding and mindfulness skills as well as understanding the power of body language, learning about our energy, connecting to our spirit.

Project goals are to promote healing within, healing from trauma, developing relationships, while working with horses. We will strive to learn Anishinaabemowin, culture and reconciliation within the community, while fostering resilience.

Meet our Horses

At Reflections Nanaandwejgejig Bezhigoogizhiik (Healing Horses), our horses are more than companions—they are intuitive guides on the journey to healing. Each horse has a unique personality and role in helping participants build trust, confidence, and self-awareness. With their natural ability to sense emotions, our horses assist in addressing mental health challenges like anxiety, trauma, and depression. Meet the horses who play a vital role in our therapy sessions, offering support, connection, and a powerful experience of personal growth.

Horses and people share a unique connection. In equine-assisted learning, horses help facilitators observe non-verbal communication and guide participants to achieve their goals. This hands-on approach boosts retention and understanding of the skills learned, without involving riding—just groundwork.

Why horses are ideal for this experience:

-

Horses are sensitive and highly aware, responding quickly to body language.

-

They seek strong leadership and trust, testing boundaries when behavior is inconsistent.

-

Horses value teamwork, react honestly, and cannot lie, providing honest feedback that fosters personal growth.

-

Their intuitive nature offers facilitators insight into participants, helping guide individual change.
